Hawthorn Learning Systems
Within the past few year, the Hawthorn Planning Council and Administrative Teams have worked hard to develop a new Learning System and Framework for Excellence. The Learning System is designed to identify a target, the Trailing Indicators, that would reflect success in student achievement. While there is little control over the Trailing Indicators, there is a great deal of flexibility in designing and/or selecting Leading and Intermediate Indicators. Those two areas reflect the various initiatives that will ultimately make a difference in student achievement.
The Framework for Excellence is a document that showcases and highlights the primary initiatives or Leading Indicators. Additionally, for each of those areas described and reflected in the Framework, we have outlined the necessary staff development, implementation, and evaluation/accountability necessary for them to be effective.
